Gabby Greyem Independent for Central Coast Council Gosford Ward West

My background and experience in leadership, policy and community engagement

I bring to this position a long background in community volunteering, government and corporate consulting on social and environmental issues and a strong base in strategic planning, economic management, social marketing and journalism.

Between 2001 and 2007, I served as a volunteer community advisor to the former Gosford City Council to design and inform the Gosford 2025 Community Strategic Plan.  I’m a member of my local Rural Fire Brigade, a former P&C President of Pretty Beach Public School and a local employer.

I was deeply involved in trying to stop Rocla’s Calga sand mine and was co-author of an expose of the environmental and heritage impacts of the mine in a detailed report in the Sydney Morning herald as well as covering the community struggle against the mine for ABC Radio.

Clients I’ve consulted to on community and environmental issues include the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, The Office of the Prime Minister, the federal Department of Health, the federal Department of Environment and Heritage, AGL, Insurance Australia Group and the Beverage Industry and Environment Council.

A former ABC radio and online journalist, my last job before opening my second cafe in Umina, was as an Internal Communications Manager for the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC). There, I worked directly with the Chief Operating Officer of the ABC to build and encourage a positive workplace culture for over 2,500 ABC employees.

In have BA in Communications from UTS, a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from UTS and a Masters in Communications law from UTS.
